Real Islam is not a form of extreme religion falsely portrayed in the west; simply put an ideology falsely portrayed as a political one that strives to derive legitimacy from real Islam. As a matter of fact, Islam and extremism are not synonymous, and there is even a tension between the two as it has been corroborated through the teachings of prophet Muhammad and his household. The so-called distorted Islam is anti-Christian and anti-Jew, while real Islam calls them the people of the book who can freely inhabit Muslim territories, take care of their daily affairs and enjoy the facilities provided for the public. And since Jews and Christians live in the West, distorted Islam is anti-Westerns; therefore, it is not about the Islamic faith. Rather, it is a dystopian ideology that distorts religion and reality to fit its “anti-” platform. But perhaps worst of all, extremists distort their very own religious texts so as to befit this “anti-” platform. Consider the various annotations of the Muslim sacred book, the Koran. The book was originally written in classical Arabic, a rich, sophisticated language with tens of thousands of words and nuances, as well as flowing poetry. Over eighty percent of the world’s Muslims do not speak or read Arabic, so the book has to be translated, requiring the addition of numerous annotations. These annotations differ depending on the edition of the text. In the case of extremism, these are the seeds of hatred. The difference between real Islam and extremism is that real Muslims follow Mohammad Prophet and his household and treat them as the messenger of God and his household and bloodline whereas extremism does not believe that, and believe that they should only be treated as a normal human. These groups do not believe in equality for women, the women of this country are not allowed to work beside a man and are also not allowed to drive cars. They are required to wear long garments to cover their faces, leaving only their eyes exposed. Real Muslims follow their peaceful teachings and follow their traditions narrated by their companions.
